DESIGN RESEARCH.

emt SAFETY AND EFFICIENCY

Objective: Understand the safety and efficiency concerns that EMTs face when waiting for an responding to calls.

Outcome: Conducted in-depth research on emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and paramedics to analyze their workflows, safety challenges, and efficiency concerns. The insights gathered informed the development of targeted design solutions as part of a senior capstone project.

SURGICAL INSTRUMENTATION INSIGHTS AND MAPPING

Objective: Develop a procedural mapping framework to streamline and enhance competitor evaluation workflows for a Fortune 100 medical device client in the surgical instruments space.

Outcome: Delivered a scalable framework and insights deck focused on improving procedural efficiency in surgical instrument evaluation. The work led to over $100K in follow-on engagements and a nomination for the client’s internal innovation award.

ROBOTIC DIAGNOSTIC TECHNOLOGY

Objective: Conduct a cross-functional heuristic analysis to evaluate product usability and inform strategic direction prior to formative testing.

Outcome: Uncovered key usability issues that led the client to pause an upcoming formative study and reassess product direction. Facilitated four strategy workshops to realign development priorities and guide next steps.

CANCER CARE DEVICE RESEARCH AND PROTOTYPE TESTING

Objective: Identify critical user needs and design parameters to inform future device concepts for minimally invasive cancer treatment.

Outcome: Traveled across the country to gather deep clinical insights from specialist physicians, enabling strategic design decisions and informed tradeoffs for new technology integration.

THE FUTURE OF FLIGHT

Objective: Reimagine the future of flight for 2030+

Outcome: Leveraged future forecasting, trend analysis, and multi-level prototyping in a multidisciplinary project sponsored by Boeing. The team developed several forward-looking concepts—some of which are now published patents.

CONSUMER INSIGHTS

Objective: Uncover insights around chemophobia, greenwashing, and how consumers source purchase-driving information for skincare products.

Outcome: Partnered with Kao (Biore) on a paid consulting project to uncover consumer perceptions of chemophobia. Conducted landscape research, user interviews, and insight-driven concept development to support strategic decision-making.
